Credit Card Comparisons Myths

Whenever a new service or online tool is launched there are myths that start to circulate about them and credit card comparisons are no different. Often such myths come from people and organisations who either do not understand the new service or who want to see it fail. If you are concerned about some of the things you have heard about credit card comparisons, here are some of the myths surrounding them.

You have to pay to use credit card comparisons online. This is an absolute truth and anyone can use comparison websites at any time they like totally free of charge. You will not be charged for repeat visits to website nor will you be charged if you want to find out more information about a particular credit card. When you use credit card comparisons you are only shown certain credit cards. Whilst the only cards that are shown on comparison sites are from the lenders who agreed to have their cards placed on their, this is still highly reflective of the market. In fact there are few credit card lenders who do not have their services and credit card featured on credit card comparisons websites. Applying for credit cards through credit card comparisons websites will make lenders look less favourably at you. This is utter nonsense and no credit card lender would ever turn down an application purely because it came from a comparison website. In actual fact lenders know that anyone who applies through credit card via a comparison site has really studied the market before making the application. In some ways this means the applicant is more knowledgeable about the credit card that they are applying for as they have compared it with many others. When you use credit card comparisons you will be plagued with spam e-mails and unwanted phone calls. Once again this is a total untruth. When you use credit card comparisons you do not even have to enter any personal details into your search, you can simply compare credit cards side by side without divulging anything. The only time that you will have to enter any personal information is when you decide to take your search a step further and apply for a credit card online. Credit card comparisons prevent you from getting the best deals. Once again this is absolutely incorrect. In actual fact when you use credit card comparisons you are seeing the latest deals from the latest credit cards in real-time. You will not be looking at any out of date offers or rewards which means any credit card that you find interesting will still be current during your search. Comparison sites constantly update their information so that anyone using them will have the very latest information at their fingertips.

These are just a few of the credit card comparisons myths that you may or may not have heard of. As you can see they are all totally incorrect and they should be disregarded by anyone looking for credit cards.

Living within your means can be very difficult anymore because of all the new gadgets and shiny toys that are thrown at us constantly. We live in a very instant world where we want everything. We tend to base our lives on things instead of really matters and this is dangerous. Here are some tips to help you how to budget your money and stay out of the money trap.

First, if you receive a raise or you get a better paying job do not start spending or changing your life right away. You should never change your lifestyle, i.e. place you live, car you drive, and other things you have, without first having 6 months to a year worth of your new bills in the bank. This gives you the padding to change back if you lose your job or to find another job if you lose your job.

Second, understand that money is not your master. It is a horrible master and will always lead you a stray. If you allow money to be servant, however, it can work wonders for your bank account, self esteem, and stress level. Think about it this way, if you had $50,000 just sitting in the bank, then you would have much less to worry about when it comes to money. This would ease your stress and make the life changes that are bound to come about much easier.

Last, know what you can afford. Make sure that if you cannot afford something you walk away from it. Learning how to budget your money is not hard, but it takes discipline and that is what makes it difficult. You have to set up a budget for yourself and stick to it. If you plan correctly, then this should be pretty easy and you can always add in an extra column for emergencies or for unexpected spending.
